I am pleased to announce an opportunity to join the Board of Trustees at Volunteering England. We are looking for candidates to be nominated and stand for election by members at the forthcoming AGM on 24 November.
The vacancy is open to individual members or from board members, employees or nominated representatives of any member organisations. We are looking for anyone who feels that they can contribute positively to the governance of Volunteering England in what are exciting times for volunteering. As well as a strong background in volunteering we are looking in particular for candidates who have skills in the following areas:
- Policy and influence
- Media and public relations
There are four trustee meetings per year consisting of two afternoon sessions held at Volunteering England and two day long sessions including an overnight stay, usually held in Oxford. Time will also be required to read board papers prior to each meeting and undergo trustee training and induction.
Those interested in nominating a candidate should submit the applicant’s CV, a 300-400 word profile of the candidate (to be circulated to members prior to the AGM) and a cover letter explaining the applicant’s suitability for the role. Nominations should be signed by the member or on behalf of the membership organisation and submitted to Gilly Glyn (Gilly.Glyn@volunteeringengland.org) by Friday 10 October 2008.
Candidates will be short listed by a nominations panel with those who are successful being put forward for election by the members. Details of the AGM and guidance on the electoral process will be circulated to all members shortly.
Read a detailed role description explaining the role and responsibilities of a Volunteering England Trustee. If you have any queries or require any further information please do contact Gilly Glyn or Graham Galvin (Director of Corporate Services, Graham.Galvin@volunteeringengland.org).
Best wishes
