Volunteering England, the national development agency for volunteers, has appointed Meta Zimmeck as Public Affairs Strategist. In this newly created role, Meta will be providing strategic advice on Volunteering England’s programme, evidence base, partnership working and liaising with policy makers and parliamentarians. From December she will lead in the Secretariat of the Commission on the Future of Volunteering.

Before joining Volunteering England, Meta was head of the Voluntary and Community Research Section, Research, Development & Statistics Directorate in the Home Office, where she was responsible for research, programme evaluations and briefings for policy colleagues in the Active Communities Directorate. Prior to that, she was a research consultant specialising in voluntary and community sector issues and housing/ homelessness.
She has been a volunteer in housing associations for nearly thirty years. She started as a staircase representative in a tenants association, and is now chair of Hornsey Housing Trust, a specialist housing association providing housing and support to older people in Haringey and Barnet.
Meta said:
