Press release: Volunteering England appoints new Quality and Accreditation Manager

Volunteering England (VE), the national development agency for volunteers, has appointed James Collins to the newly created post of Quality and Accreditation Manager, and will report to Barbara Regnier, Director of Volunteering Management and Leadership. James will manage VE’s quality assurance, licensing and accreditation functions, in addition to a two day a week secondment to the Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network (ADSAN).

James joined Volunteering England in May 2005 in the capacity of Regional Development Officer for the West Midlands, where he worked with a variety of volunteering stakeholders at regional level, including the Government Office for the West Midlands, Sport England West Midlands and Volunteering West Midlands. He also spent the first half of 2006 on secondment to the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (LOCOG) to support the development of the London 2012 Volunteering Strategy.

A volunteer and paid worker in the Voluntary and Community Sector for many years, James has managed volunteers in a variety of different areas, including disability rights and sport and leisure.

Commenting on his appointment, James said:

“I am looking forward to meeting the challenges in the new role, especially the development of the Excellence in Volunteer Management programme and the Volunteer Centre Quality Standards.

”The Volunteering Management and Leadership directorate works to ensure that volunteers and their managers receive the best possible training and support and I am confident that my background in volunteering infrastructure will enable me to understand and meet their needs.”
