For immediate release

Simon RichardsJune Pratley

Volunteering England (VE) is to further its volunteering infrastructure work with the appointment of Simon Richards and June Pratley to the newly created posts of strategic development manager, and strategic development officer, respectively.

The newly created roles will build on the groundbreaking work of the Regional Development Team and support the modernisation of the Volunteer Centre Network. Delivering on the next stages of Building on Success (VE’s volunteering infrastructure strategy) Simon and June will be working to maintain and develop a dynamic, strategic and sustainably-funded volunteering infrastructure across the country.

Simon and June both have extensive experience within volunteering infrastructure. Simon has been working at Volunteering England as a regional volunteering development officer in the East Midlands for over two years, before which he worked as a development worker in a local volunteer centre. June, formerly a regional development officer for Greater London, has worked in the voluntary sector for 18 years, with roles ranging from co-ordinating volunteers at a Citizens Advice Bureau to managing a London-wide housing programme for a national housing association.

Simon said: “These are really exciting times for volunteering and there are many opportunities for volunteer centres to strengthen the services they deliver. Drawing on some of the excellent work that has been going on across the country, we hope to further develop the volunteer centre network so it can enjoy a sustainable future.”
