Dr. Justin Davis Smith, Chief Executive of Volunteering England, commented:

“While November 1 is a special day to mark International Volunteer Managers’ Day, every day is special for those who receive help from the massive army of volunteers and volunteer managers who work in a vast variety of roles across the country without the public recognition they deserve.

“We know only too well how volunteer managers and volunteers are the backbone of our community, working quietly in the background, from care in the community to mentoring, and from fundraising to counselling. Not just today, but every day, Volunteer Managers are making a difference to people’s lives, and it is thanks to the trained professionals, the Volunteer Managers, without whose efforts, most nonprofit organisations and other public services would be unable to achieve their missions.

“So I would like to say a big thank you to volunteer managers everywhere, not just on this special day, but for every day of the year, for giving their time and invaluable professional leadership, without which many volunteering roles would not function.”
