Published 19May2008

For immediate release

Students from across the Yorkshire and Humber region will be performing in a volunteering showcase on 24 May at Leeds Gallery demonstrate the valuable contribution they make to local communities in Yorkshire and the Humber.

There will be displays from individual universities, and entertainment provided by different student societies – including opera singers and jugglers! The showcase, presented by Volunteering England’s Youth Action Team, will be held from 12pm to 4pm.

Davina Pilkington, Student Volunteering Development Co-ordinator at Volunteering England, said:

”Student volunteering is really popular in Yorkshire and the Humber and we’ve had first hand experience of involving student volunteers in the delivery of our projects. Our Youth Action Team has played a key role in organising this event and I hope that it will demonstrate the impact that student volunteers are making in their communities, and the skills and enthusiasm that they bring.”
