New trustees announced

Volunteering England, the volunteering development charity, welcomes three new trustees to its Board, taking the number up to fifteen. The new trustees are Helen Simpson, Chris Wade and Steve Kenny.

Helen Simpson is currently Managing Director of Volunteering for the BT Group. Developing and delivering BT’s Volunteering Programme to enable BT employees to volunteer with charity and community partners, sponsored by BT’s Chairman, Sir Mike Rake. As well as Helen’s considerable understanding of volunteering, she has business development skills and significant experience of turning strategy into action, developed over a long career in the private sector working for BP Group and BT Group.

Chris Wade has eleven years experience of the voluntary sector; seven years of which was spent as Chief Executive of Victim Support Nottinghamshire, followed upon the merger of the Victim Support federation into one organisation, by a spell as Regional Manager for South East England, before becoming Head of Learning and Volunteer Development in January 2009. He has also volunteered in a personal capacity, volunteering for some time as a school governor, in particular mentoring and assisting the head teacher on business, finance and equality issues.

Steve Kenny is currently Pro Vice Chancellor (Development) at Liverpool John Moores University. Steve has held this position since 2002 and has institutional responsibility for learning and teaching development, academic planning, academic quality assurance, and the University’s World of Work programme, which is a major strategic initiative promoting graduate employability and employer engagement. He is also currently the University’s trustee and deputy chair of the council of the Northern Consortium as well as chair of the Board of Directors of NCUK (its commercial arm).
