Joe Saxton, co-founder of research consultancy and sector think-tank nfpSynergy, will be the keynote speaker at the Trustee Conference 2008.
The conference takes place on Thursday 26 June at the Royal College of Surgeons in Lincoln's Inn Field, London.
Joe was recently included in the Evening Standard’s list of London’s most influential people, alongside Prince Charles, Sir Bob Geldolf, Sir Elton John and Ark founder Arpad Busson.
The Evening Standard said of him: “Charity needs to be built on solid foundations and 45 of the top 50 British charities use this man’s research to reach the right decisions.”
Joe, who for six years was a trustee of the RSPCA, will be discussing why we need to trust trustees to make a difference.
Joe says: “Charities today are subject to more pressure, scrutiny and competition than ever before and we need to make sure that trustees are effective.”
The speech will look at the challenges trustees face in making sure they drive forward change and how boards of trustees should be treated as individuals with difference strengths and talents.
The annual Trustee Conference brings together leading figures and specialist advisers in the charity world for an exciting and informative day of workshops, lectures and case studies.
Subjects covered include:
- PR And Fundraising Hand In Hand
- Charities Act and Companies Act
- Role of New Trustees in Fundraising
- Employment Issues For Trustees
In addition there is a full programme for new trustees.
The conference offers trustees the opportunity to gain technical updates and to network, share common problems and gain first-hand experiences from other charities and experts in the voluntary sector.
The cost of the conference (inclusive of VAT, conference pack, lunch and refreshments) is £190 (£180 before 1 May) first delegate, £160 second delegate.
All profits will be donated to charities chosen by the speakers.
