What is a licensed training provider?
A licenced training provider is a person, persons or organisation that is licenced by Volunteering England to deliver EVM (in either a training, consulting or a networking role). The training provider must be accredited by the same national awarding bodies as the learner if the learner is to be able to achieve the endorsed award through the training provider.
What does a licensed training provider do?
As a licensed training provider, you will be responsible for delivering training and support to managers of volunteers. You will be involved in classroom-based teaching, supporting eLearning and helping managers of volunteers to isolate their training needs, based on their unique requirements.
Who can become a licensed training provider?
Those who become licensed training providers are those who
- deliver training for managers of volunteers
- are responbible for the training and development needs of managers of volunteers working in large volunteer involving organisations
- provide training to members through infrastructure and umbrella organisations.
What are the benefits of becoming a licensed training provider?
You will be joining a select group of professionals who are specifically aiming to increase the quality of volunteer management in England. You wil be part of a partnership within the sector that is truly innovative and this will offer you a unique opportunity to help move the whole sector forward at a time when there is unprecedented interest and support for volunteering. Once you are licensed and trained to make best use of the resources and endorsed training that is EVM (including using eLearning), you can deliver training and consultancy to meet your own business objectives, while VE work to market and promote the programme.
What qualifications or skills do I need to become a licensed training provider?
Ideally, we would like you to:
- have already demonstrated a commitment to the ethos of volunteering
- have experience of the design and delivery of a variety of training programmes
- have experience of accreditation
- be able to demonstrate the methods you use to ensure equality of opportunity and that those from diverse and rural communities are included.

How much will it cost to become a licensed training provider?
This will depend on the type and size of training provider that you are. The annual licence fees range from £400 for an individual to £10,000 for large organisations. Each person that delivers the EVM programme, must complete the EVM Train the Trainer course at a cost of £500 per trainer.
