Example recruitment flowchart
The Children's Services Directorate at Warrington Borough Council has contributed a flowchart to the Bank which summarises their recruitment process. It splits the process into steps and also includes some detail to explain what happens at each step.

Using a flowchart or similar diagram can be a useful way of summarising your organisation's recruitment process. Obviously, things won't work in the same way with each volunteer, but a guide like this can be helpful for lots of reasons.
- It acts as a simple pictoral guide for everyone in your organisation who needs to know about the recruitment process, whether that's people directly involved in recruitment, or teams waiting to work with the volunteers once they have been successfully recruited.
- It can help you to plan recruitment campaigns, because you can estimate the time needed for each step.
- It can be a handy reference document when you are writing or updating other documents like your volunteer policy.
- Flowcharts like this could be particularly useful if you follow slightly different recruitment processes for different kinds of volunteers. Some examples include: service users who become volunteers, volunteers who do or don't need a CRB check or volunteers with particular professional skills.
