The Joseph Rowntree Foundation has undertaken several research and evaluation projects which looked at mentoring schemes.
- JRF evaluation of ten 'Mentoring Plus' programmes run by Crime Concern and Breaking Barriers. These programmes targeted disaffected young people and offered a one-to-one mentoring service (with a volunteer mentor recruited from the local community), together with a programme of education and training and a series of social activities (the Plus element).
(June 2004)
- JRF study of a young disabled people's peer mentoring/support project. The project was designed to give young disabled people the chance to look at their experiences and hopes, through the example of other young disabled people who were setting up their own homes, managing their own personal support, having relationships and/or going to work.
