Strategic Development Team (Volunteering Infrastructure)

Simon Richards, Strategic Development Manager and Officer for volunteering infrastructure, oversees the development and modernisation of the Volunteer Centre Network.

Supporting the delivery of Building on Success, the national strategy for volunteering infrastructure, the team will be helping to realise the vision of a modern, dynamic, strategic, co-ordinated and sustainable infrastructure for volunteering. Focussing on the priorities set out in Volunteering England’s response to the Treasury Third Sector Review, the team will be working on three key areas:

• Identifying and helping to fill gaps in volunteering infrastructure
• Supporting the modernisation of the network, towards the aim of having one accountable body for volunteering infrastructure in each county council and unitary authority area
• Providing ongoing support to those volunteer centres that are working across a whole county
