Commission on the Future of Volunteering

What is it?

The Commission on the Future of Volunteering was established by the England Volunteering Development Council in order to develop a long-term vision for volunteering in England.

It was an independent Commission chaired by Baronness Neuberger DBE. (Volunteering England provided support as the Secretariat.)

What has it done?

The Commission carried out a public consultation on people's thoughts and visions for volunteering, including themed consultation meetings and submissions of written evidence. It also commissioned several pieces of research.

The Commission published its 'Manifesto for Change' in January 2008 which sets out a vision and recommendations for the future of volunteering.
