To further Volunteering England's mission of supporting the quality and impact of volunteering throughout England we encourage the official recognition of the fantastic activities that volunteers carry out. We are delighted to be associated with two Awards schemes which share these values.
The Guardian Public Services Awards 2008
Our public services and healthy civil society depend on the willingness of people to give freely of their time and skills. And with people's lives becoming ever more pressured, such willingness is at a premium.
The Guardian Citizenship and Volunteering Award seeks to recognise schemes that promote good citizenship by employees in employer supported volunteering schemes.
The award is open to employers operating in the private sector as well as those engaged in the public services. Entrants must be able to give evidence of a clear policy that has been taken up by a number of staff.
This award is a unique chance for private organisations to showcase their achievements in employer-supported volunteering alongside the very best of the public sector. So whether it's a small business or a large company, if they have shared your vision for volunteering by demonstrating outstanding dedication and willingness to give freely of their time, then this could be their year.

The Justice Awards 2008
Do you know a volunteer who goes above and beyond the call of duty in their job? Give them the recognition they deserve by nominating them for a Justice Award today. Volunteers who carry out activities with victims, witnesses, defendants, offenders and the local community are eligible for the awards and you can nominate individuals or teams. This includes people working in the Courts Service, the CPS, police, the Prison Service, the Probation Service and Youth Offending Teams.
