Business in the Community’s Awards for Excellence
Business in the Community’s Awards for Excellence recognise companies for integrating responsible business practice into their mainstream operations. The Awards are available to companies of all sizes including individual business units of larger organisations and are the primary means by which Business in the Community identifies, celebrates and communicates good practice in corporate responsibility.

PerCent Standard
The Percent Standard is a voluntary benchmark, measuring the contributions made by companies though cash donations, staff time, gifts in kind and management time, shown as a percentage of pre-tax profits. Further information and downloadable template available on website www.bitc.org.uk/percent
Corporate Responsibility Index
The Corporate Responsibility Index acts as a business management tool, developed to support companies in improving their impact on society and the environment. By participating in the Index companies are able to assess the extent to which their corporate responsibility strategy is translated into responsible practice throughout the organisation, and especially in managing four key areas – Community, Environment, Marketplace and Workplace.
The results of the Corporate Responsibility Index are published annually.

London Benchmarking Group
The London Benchmarking Group model is a benchmarking method used by companies to evaluate their community investment programmes. The model has three categories into which different forms of community involvement can be classified: charity donations, social or community investment and commercial initiatives – over and above those that result from basic business operations.

The Queens Award for Voluntary Service
The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Serviced annually recognises and rewards excellence in voluntary activities carried out by groups in the community in the United Kingdom, Channel Islands and Isle of Man who volunteer their own time to enhance and improve the quality of life and opportunity for individuals or other groups in the community.
