Evaluation

Whether you are a company, a public sector body, a voluntary group or a community based organisation at the stage of thinking about evaluating your employer supported volunteering these pages offer advice on how to evaluate and monitor you employer supported volunteering programme.

These pages have been compiled by The Institute for Volunteering Research (www.ivr.org.uk).

β€œAt the heart of employee volunteering is the voluntary free gift by an individual of his/her skills, enthusiasm and time. When the company is calculating the contribution it makes, such as overall time (based on the input of paid staff time) and/or other resources, then it needs to start by setting clear objectives and assessing whether those are being achieved (without which it risks wasting resources and jeopardising future commitment). The individual and the community partner may also want to do likewise, as success is more likely if you've thought in advance about what you are trying to achieve. The key thing is to keep measurement as simple as possible!”
