News from the Modernising Volunteering Workstream

Faith and Volunteering in England

In May, Volunteering England held a briefing day in Birmingham to launch the report ‘Volunteering and Faith Communities in England’ and the Faith and Volunteering grant programme.

The event was aimed at faith volunteering groups and networks and volunteering infrastructure and support organisations. Feed back from delegates was positive; they found the networking particularly useful, welcomed the research and valued the fact that the event took place – and in Birmingham.

Faith Report

Thilo Boeck, from De Montfort University Centre for Social Action, introduced the reports’ findings and the recommendations published in the report. Volunteering England is making free copies of the report available.

Grant Programme for Youth Action and Volunteering in Faith Based Communities

This grant programme is aimed at increasing the quality and quantity of young people's volunteering experience through faith based organisations.

What is this grant programme all about?

Volunteering England are selecting six projects that will build partnerships and demonstrate community building through volunteering. This particular scheme will focus on themes linked to faith communities, work with young people, and joint initiatives between volunteering infrastructure organisations and faith communities.
