Volunteers who responded to the ‘volunteering for mental health survey told us a lot about the concerns they had that affected their experience of volunteering. The information they provided included the following points:
They might not have the skills or confidence to do the job They were concerned about people’s lack of awareness of mental health issues They worried about other people’s opinions of their mental health issues They were affected by medication and the side effects of drugs They lacked information and advice about how benefits might be affected They were worried about how to afford bus fares, travel costs, lunches, etc.
