Student Volunteering team in Yorkshire and the Humber

The Student Volunteering team in Yorkshire and the Humber works to create new opportunities for student volunteers coming from both higher education and further education backgrounds.

  • We encourage and support students from Higher Education with more experience to mentor and support those from FE Colleges. We currently run different volunteering taster days where we encourage volunteers from both HE and FE to volunteer together. Past volunteering events have included beach cleans, a day on an Urban Farm and arts and crafts in a primary school.
  • We host a group of student volunteers from across the region called the Youth Action Team. They work with us to raise the profile of student volunteering, and create new opportunities for their fellow students. We are currently recruiting new members for next years Youth Action Team. If you would like to find out more or apply to volunteer with us then please contact Kathy.Yates@volunteeringengland.org.
  • We aim to support workers and students alike in all forms of volunteering, and have created resources that are practical and inspirational. These include practical resources for new and smaller student community action groups who are looking to set up youth led volunteering for the first time. All our resources can be found on the Student Volunteering Resources page.
  • We work with a range of organisations to create exciting new opportunities for student volunteers. These opportunities range from setting up your own youth led projects to working with young people in the region. If you are an organisation or HE/FE institution looking to further develop your volunteering opportunities then please get in touch to find out more. Contact frances.smith@volunteeringengland.org

Youth Led Volunteering Case Studies

This consists of three mini films of youth led projects in the Yorkshire and Humber region. These mini films cover three very different projects and look at how students have taken on their leadership roles, and the support that they can receive from their volunteer coordinators.
