Further Education Volunteering

Volunteering England has been supporting workers in the Further Education sector to set up student volunteering since 2000 and has completed a range of development projects in the Further Education Sector.

Volunteering England's Student Volunteering Team provides a range of opportunities for Further Education Institutions to develop more knowledge of student volunteering. These include:

• The Going Further project which has supported individual colleges to develop student volunteering and worked at a strategic level to develop the volunteering infrastructure in the Further Education sector
• Monthly e-bulletin which highlights best practice and innovation in the Further Education and Higher Education sectors. Email Jenny Lowthrop, Volunteering Development Officer on jenny.lowthrop@volunteeringengland.org to sign up
• Publications - which support the sector to increase the quality and quantity of volunteering
• An information resource bank - jam packed with useful information, case studies and best practice in Further Education volunteering
• Strategic development, read about our latest work - we work to support the ongoing development of the sector, for example we are currently working on a 'Safeguarding Volunteering' policy and developing a national Further Education volunteering strategy
• The National Student Volunteering Conference, which is held each year and attracts around 250 staff and students from across the Further Education and Higher Education sectors to learn about the student volunteering movement, provide practical networking opportunities and develop skills in managing student volunteering programmes
• Student Volunteering Week, held in the last week of February each year, which celebrates and promotes student volunteering across the country
