North West

Friday 29th February: Great North West Beach Clean. Universities from across the North West will get together to clean Fleetwood Beach. Last year they cleaned 24 tonnes of rubbish! Volunteers will be litter picking and conducting a litter survey.


Community Bridge, University of Liverpool

Tuesday 26th February: hosting a ‘Love your Community’ open day for students to find out how they can volunteer in their community. Also holding 30 minute information sessions presented by local and national charities, community groups and student- led projects.

Friday 29th February: Will be taking part in the Great North West Beach Clean.


COMMuni, Manchester Metropolitan University

Monday 25th February: hosting ‘Go Green Pledge’, a city centre project to encourage members of the public to pledge to go green. Volunteers will be encouraging people to sign up to a pledge in partnership with Action for Sustainable Living.

Wednesday 27th February: Hosting ‘100 Days Clean Up’, a huge clean up to improve the area for local people. Volunteers will be litter picking and engaging with the community in partnership with Manchester City Council Parks Department.

Friday 29th February: will be taking part in the Great North West Beach Clean.


North West Regional Beach Clean Volunteers – University of Central Lancashire

The University of Central Lancashire are holding an awareness raising day at the Students’ Union, then taking part in the North West Regional Beach Clean along with the other institutions. They are also taking young people on an awareness weekend.


Lancaster and Morecambe College Volunteers

Launching their volunteer award scheme which will encourage students to start logging their volunteer hours. Also running a conservation project to make their campus a greener space, which will include putting up nest boxes fro local wildlife.


Liverpool Community College

Liverpool Community College are running three volunteering/charity activities. On 22nd Feb they are doing tree planting at a local primary school on the 26th they are having a ‘Green Day’, devised by their volunteer committee, with the money going to Aquabox and on the 29th they are involved with the North West Beach Clean. They aim to engage 15 – 25 learners in the off site volunteering, plus 6 students make up the committee.


University of Bolton

The university are organising a range of activities including a volunteering fair and an anti-bullying project. The University are also involved in the North West Beach Clean.
