On Saturday 1st March universities from across the South-West region will be holding a beach clean in Weston-super-Mare. Volunteers will be litter picking and conducting a Marine Conservation questionnaire in the morning, having a BBQ for lunch, and playing games in the afternoon.
University of Bath Students’ Union
Monday 25th: Older persons’ tea party. Volunteers will go into a local residential home to serve tea and cakes, and will also be recruiting volunteers with a talent to entertain the residents!
Wednesday 27th: Fair trade day. This will include a free screening of ‘Black Gold’, a film abut the fair-trade coffee industry. Students who are passionate about global issues and fair trade will be selling products from Bolivia (with profits going back to the workers who produced them in Bolivia) and running a farmer’s market stall.
Thursday 28th: Conservation project. A group of students will be working with BTCV to clear a local area of woodland.
Friday 29th: Sport@School. 100 children aged from 7-10 will be coming to the campus to get involved in activities run by a mix of student clubs and societies e.g. break dancing, street dance and circus skills.
Saturday 1st: Taking part in the regional beach clean.
Gloucester Volunteer Centre
Gloucester Volunteer Centre are organising events for the following colleges;
Glocestershire College, Royal Forest of Dean Collge, Stroud College, Cirencester College and The Royal Agricultural.
Royal Students from Gloucestershire College and The Royal Agricultural College are taking part in two conservation team volunteering challenges, working in woods near Wootton-Under-Edge.
There will be displays promoting student volunteering at Cirencester College, Stroud College, The Royal Forest of Dean College and The Royal Agricultural College.
The University of Gloucestershire’s student union is set to showcase some specific volunteering opportunities for students.
