Easy Reading website - Bury St Edmunds Volunteer Centre
Bury St Edmunds Volunteer Centre operates a Supported Volunteering scheme called 'Opening Doors'. The scheme supports volunteers with extra support needs in a variety of ways, including helping people with interviews and filling in forms.
As part of the project, the Volunteer Centre has developed an 'Easy Reading' section of their website for people with learning disabilities. The website is divided into four sections, and explains what volunteers do and how people can find out more about becoming a volunteer.
We really like this website because the layout, language and tone are both simple and easy to understand, yet it remains informative for potential volunteers. By creating this valuable resource in addition to the scheme itself, the Volunteer Centre demonstrates a real understanding of the volunteers' needs as well as its commitment to Supported Volunteering.
